Barranco Seco

This is a mid level B walk near Tamaimo located in the north west of the island.
This walk takes about 4.5 to 5 hours with incredible views overlooking Los Gigantes and down along the coast.
One can also see the neighboring island of La Gomera.

  • The walk starts with an easy downhill gradient followed with a climb of 400m taking about 1 hour 15 minutes.
  • We then walk along the rim of Barranco Seco before dropping down into the gorge itself.
  • After a 15 minute scramble up, we arrive at the entrance to a water tunnel.
  • With our torches in hand we walk through the tunnel (about 22 minutes) to the end of our walk.

About Martin

Welcome to my website. My name is Martin O Connell. I am a member of Mountaineering Ireland. I walk with Blackrock Hillwalking Club in Cork and Cork Mountaineering Club.

In 2008 I successfully climbed Kilimanjaro the highest mountain in Africa. I have been walking in Tenerife for over 15 years and I have put together a selection of the most scenic and diverse walks in different locations on the island. The walks are located in The National Park, The Teno Mountains in the north west and the Anaga Mountains in the North.

I have walks suitable for all grades of walkers in groups of 5 to 15. In the past 6 years I have led club walks varying in size from 2 to 24 walkers. As well as leading the walks I arrange your accommodation and transport on the island for the week. Accommodation is in private villas on a twin sharing basis in the south of the island about 10 minutes from the airport. After drinks each evening we head out to one of the local restaurants which are pre booked. Aer Lingus and Ryanair have flights from Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Knock, and Belfast into Tenerife South Airport on a weekly basis.
