Anaga 1

Punta Del Hidalgo to Chinamada to Batan de Abajo and back to Punta Del Hidalgo via the water channels.

This is a hill walkers walk, a circular walk of 6.5 hours, suitable for good B walkers. The first leg of this walk from Punta Del Hidalgo to Chinamada takes 2 hours (with a 600m lift) with marvellous views out to sea. In the village of Chinamada we see the beautifully maintained cave dwellings. From here we drop into a steep barranco and climb up to the isolated village of Batan de Abajo where we stop for refreshments. We continue to lift for another 0.5 an hour and then drop into the water channels that bring us back to Punta Del Hidalgo. In the channels we go through several short tunnels high above the Barranco Seco.

About Martin

Welcome to my website. My name is Martin O Connell. I am a member of Mountaineering Ireland. I walk with Blackrock Hillwalking Club in Cork and Cork Mountaineering Club.

In 2008 I successfully climbed Kilimanjaro the highest mountain in Africa. I have been walking in Tenerife for over 15 years and I have put together a selection of the most scenic and diverse walks in different locations on the island. The walks are located in The National Park, The Teno Mountains in the north west and the Anaga Mountains in the North.

I have walks suitable for all grades of walkers in groups of 5 to 15. In the past 6 years I have led club walks varying in size from 2 to 24 walkers. As well as leading the walks I arrange your accommodation and transport on the island for the week. Accommodation is in private villas on a twin sharing basis in the south of the island about 10 minutes from the airport. After drinks each evening we head out to one of the local restaurants which are pre booked. Aer Lingus and Ryanair have flights from Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Knock, and Belfast into Tenerife South Airport on a weekly basis.
